Are You REALLY Busy ?
Are you busy? Are you really busy or do you just think you are busy?
For most of us, we are incredibly busy but do not have to be. We make ourselves more busy than we really need to be. Yes, it is true.
I know you have heard this before, but ask yourself this simple question: Are you working "On" your business or "In" your business. Take a close look at what you are busy doing. Are you doing the strategic planning and the marketing to bring in new business or are you distracted by the more simple day to day tasks? Are you too busy to do what you know really needs to be done to grow your business?
Here is what you do (this will only take a minute at most). Look at how much you made last year or how much you want to make this year. Divide it by the number of hours you want to work. For example, if you want to make $100,000 this year and only want to work 40 hours per week (not more), then divide $100,000 by 2000 (40 hours / week x 50 work weeks in a year). You earn $50 per hour. So let me ask you, are busy doing $50 per hour work or $10 per hour tasks? Maybe you feel these $10 per hour tasks are saving you something, but as you can see they are actually costing you.
How and where do you find a $10 an hour person? There are many places to go, depending on your tasks. Start with your local high schools and colleges. There are many students looking for part and full time work to make ends meet and to get valuable work experience. Some school will actually pay a part of the salary. There are also a lot of online resources, such as oDesk.com, elance.com, craigslist and more.
You can only be successful working 'On' your business not "in" your business. Ask yourself, Is what I'm doing now making me money and causing me to be successful? If not, STOP doing it.
This may well be the one tip and tactic that you need to get your train back on the track.
